Retirement's first disappointment

The Lower Platte South National Resources District's Kayak Tour was today. I planned to participate but a bank full and fast flowing Platte River required the NRD to limit participation to experienced kayakers. I am not that.

Being home had its rewards though.

Birds are flocking to our new bird tube feeder. Finches, black-capped chickadees and northern cardinals predominate. At one point I counted five finches on the feeder. Another time a cardinal and a finch were on the feeder at the same time. That was particularly enjoyable to watch.

  1. I am also enjoying watching the birds at the feeder.

  2. We'll plan our own kayaking trip, John. Maybe September. I can obtain rental kayaks from UNO's outdoor venture center. - John Sharp
