My work life is at an end.
Regrets about my career are few and I have memories to sustain me.
Those memories were brought home to me by a book of memories I received that overwhelmed and completely surprised me. Sadly, my farewell was marked by the absence of the coworker who put the book together. She could not be present because of the loss of a sister. Despite her loss, she sent me a heartfelt note about my retirement and I know she is glad for me. So too are the other members of the law division where I worked and the many others who wrote notes and supplied items for the memory book.
Not having any desire to spend time wondering about the future, I began a road trip Thursday morning that had me heading west for the Platte River Prairies near Wood River.
Much more about that later.
